480 refers to it being approximately equivalent in power to the Mabuchi 480 brushed motors of the past. Those had a can length of 480mm.
The motor is recommended for 3S LiPo. There will be too much heat build up if run on 4S.
The EFLM480BL motor is typically paired with a 30A ESC, but a 40A ESC should work fine as well
