Sound Transit, named after Washingtonâs Puget Sound region, operates 11 F59PHI locomotives in commuter service as part of its Sounder commuter rail line. Service began in September of 2000. Trains consist of Bombardier Bi-Level coaches and cab cars. Many of these units were repainted in the mid-2010s; this monthâs offering reflects this new design. All of the F59PHIs have since been rebuilt to EPA Tier III specifications.
